What About A Conventional Shoe?


Negative Aspects Of Conventional Shoes

Creates crowded, misaligned, and weak toes. Increases the risk of bunions and presses your big toe into a hallux valgus position. The toes lose their ability to be rigid levers during toe-off.
This hinders the big toe joint mobility and there will be minimal movement throughout the joints in your feet.
The thickness of the sole hinders natural movement biomechanics while walking & running. It decreases proprioceptive information to your brain from your feet.
A thick & stiff midsole will ensure that your arch doesn't collapse when you walk. The problem is that it also hinders the natural shock absorption movement that is supposed to happen in a functional foot. There is supposed to be a whole foot pronation and foot elongation. So even if it feels supported, weight distribution mechanics are hindered and there will be consequences in other joints throughout the kinetic chain.
This locks your big toe in dorsiflexion, which will tense up your foot arch via the windlass mechanism, increasing the risk of pain. The toe-spring assists the foot in a way that strong toes are not needed. This results in you developing weak toes and foot muscle atrophy over time.
This will put pressure on the front part of your foot, together with a narrow toe box and a toe spring this will increase the risk of collapsing the anterior transverse foot arch. A high heel to toe drop doesn't demand heel cord flexibility and your body will adapt to having a short heel cord, restricting your ankle mobility over time.
