Stylish Wide Toe Box Shoes: How to Wear Wyde Footwear

A wide toe box changes the outline of a shoe. The front follows the shape of the foot instead of narrowing to a point. That looks different at first, and a few styling choices help it look sharp. This guide goes through the Wyde Footwear range by occasion: smart casual and office wear, everyday casual wear, summer and winter. It then lists every colourway with its price, explains what each shoe is made of and covers sizing and care. Prices are as of October 2026.

What makes a wide toe box shoe look stylish?

The same things that make any shoe look good: a clean outline, good materials and a colour that works with the rest of the outfit. A wide front is less noticeable when the upper is simple and the colour is calm.

Every Wyde model has a wide, foot-shaped toe box, zero drop and no toe spring. Zero drop means the heel and the toes sit at the same height, like standing barefoot. Toe spring is the upward curve at the front of many shoes that lifts the toes off the ground. Without it, the sole stays flat from heel to toe, which gives the shoe a level, low profile from the side.

Wyde sums up its approach on its About page as "Foot-shaped. Fashion-forward. Function-led." The advice below is general styling advice that works for any wide toe box shoe.

Which styling rules are worth following?

  • Choose a simple upper for dressier outfits. Plain leather, nubuck or suede reads as smarter than busy panels.
  • Pick tonal colourways, where the upper and sole are close in colour, if you want the shoe to look slimmer.
  • Match trouser length to the shoe. Trousers that end at the top of the shoe or just above the ankle sit well with a rounder toe.
  • Choose your size by foot length, so the shoe is not longer than it needs to be.

How thick are Wyde soles, and how does that change the look?

Wyde lists a stack height on each product page. The Nova has a stack height of 10 mm plus the insole, the Maia, Maia Strap and Nilo have 14.6 mm, the Soma has 22 mm, and the Chelsea and Norra boots have 24 mm.

Wyde notes that the Nova looks as if it has a higher stack height than it does, and that this is purely a visual effect. The Nova models have the lowest stack heights in the range, the Soma has the thickest sneaker sole, and the boots sit highest.

What does the stack height mean for each look?

  • Nova: the low profile suits smart casual outfits.
  • Soma: a thicker sole gives a chunkier outline.
  • Maia, Maia Strap and Nilo: a mid-height sole in sandal and slip-on shapes.
  • Chelsea and Norra: boots with the highest sole in the range.

Which Wyde shoes suit smart casual outfits and the office?

The Nova in dark colours, the Nova Patent Black and the Chelsea boot are the most formal shoes in the range. They are the natural choices for chinos, wool trousers and smart casual outfits.

The Nova Dual Black has an upper of LWG Gold certified nubuck and grain leather. The Nova Brown Suede has an upper of LWG Gold certified Italian suede. Both are laced leather sneakers with a rubber outsole, handmade in Portugal.

Wyde describes the Nova Patent Black as a black dress shoe built on the Nova sole, made for weddings, formal occasions and the office. Its upper is patent leather.

The Chelsea is a boot in Black or Brown with an upper of LWG Gold certified leather from Portugal. Wyde calls it the classic Chelsea boot, rebuilt around your foot. It has a cork insole and a knit lining.

Which Wyde shoes suit everyday casual outfits?

The Nova in lighter colours, the Nova Fly and the Soma suit jeans and weekend outfits. The choice comes down to colour and sole thickness.

The Nova comes in White, White/Gum, Beige/Green, Beige/Blue and Beige/Peach as well as the darker colours. The Nova Fly combines LWG Gold certified nubuck with a textile, in White/Sand, White/Gray and Gray/Green. Both are handmade in Portugal.

The Soma is a sneaker with an air mesh and suede upper, a velvet lining, an EVA midsole and a rubber outsole. It weighs 300g in size 39 and is made in China. It comes in White, Sandstone, Frost Gray, Midnight Navy, Silver and Earth Black.

Which Wyde shoes suit summer outfits and easy slip-on wear?

The Maia and Maia Strap are sandals, and the Nilo is a slip-on. All three are handmade in Portugal.

Wyde describes the Maia as a timeless sandal design with adjustable straps, a cushioned footbed and a structured outsole. The upper is waxed leather, the lining is suede, both LWG Gold certified from Portugal, and the midsole is cork. The buckles are metal with an engraved logo. The Maia Strap is a variant of the Maia.

The Nilo is a slip-on with an upper and lining of LWG Gold certified suede from Portugal, a cork midsole and a rubber outsole. It comes in Gray and Dark Brown. Wyde says it is built on its cork-based footbed.

If you wear Wyde sneakers, Wyde recommends sizing down one size when you buy the Maia. This applies to the Maia Strap too.

Which Wyde boots suit the colder months?

The Chelsea and the Norra are Wyde boots for the cold and wet months. Both are handmade in Portugal and have an upper of LWG Gold certified leather from Portugal, a cork insole, a rubber outsole and a knit lining.

Wyde says both have an Acquastop membrane that keeps out wind and water while letting your feet breathe. The Chelsea comes in Black and Brown. The Norra comes in Espresso and has stretch nylon laces.

Wyde describes the Norra with the words "Warm feet, free toes" and says it takes you through slush, snow and long cold days without squeezing your foot into a narrow boot. Wyde positions its shoes for everyday wear on concrete and pavement.

  • Nova Dual Black and Nova White, for the sneaker that goes with most outfits.
  • Soma Earth Black and Soma Sandstone, for a thicker-soled everyday sneaker.
  • Maia Brown and Maia Black, for sandals in summer. Size down one size from your sneaker size.

What are Wyde shoes made of?

Most leather models use leather, nubuck or suede that Wyde lists as certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG). The Soma uses air mesh and suede. The details differ by model and by colourway.

Which materials does each model use?

  • Nova Dual Black: LWG Gold certified nubuck and grain leather, Coolmax lining, cotton laces, rubber outsole.
  • Nova Beige/Green, Beige/Blue, Beige/Peach and White/Gum: LWG Gold certified nubuck with LWG approved aviator leather.
  • Nova Brown Suede: LWG Gold certified Italian suede.
  • Nova White: LWG Silver certified aniline leather.
  • Nova Patent Black: patent leather with a leather lining.
  • Nova Fly: LWG Gold certified nubuck and a textile.
  • Soma: air mesh and suede upper, velvet lining, EVA midsole, rubber outsole.
  • Maia, Maia Strap and Nilo: LWG Gold certified waxed leather or suede, suede lining, cork midsole, rubber outsole.
  • Chelsea and Norra: LWG Gold certified leather, knit lining, cork insole, rubber outsole.

LWG stands for the Leather Working Group. Its audit assesses how tanneries manage, monitor and report their environmental impact. The certificate belongs to the tannery that made the leather, not to the finished shoe.

The Soma upper includes suede, which is leather.

The leather models, which are the Nova, Maia, Maia Strap, Nilo, Chelsea and Norra, are handmade in Portugal. The Soma is made in China by a long-standing partner. Wyde says the Soma partner was chosen for expertise in suede and textile construction.

What do all Wyde shoes have in common?

Every Wyde model has a wide, foot-shaped toe box, zero drop, no toe spring and removable insoles. Wyde also says the sole is designed to let the toes bend without restriction.

Wyde shoes have no traditional built-in arch support. Because the insoles are removable, you can use your own orthotics. Wyde positions the shoes for everyday wear on concrete and pavement.

All Wyde shoes are unisex and come in full EU sizes 36 to 47. For a closer look at the design, read Foot-Shaped Shoes: Wide Toe Box, Zero Drop and Flexible Soles Explained.

What are the shared features at a glance?

  • Wide, foot-shaped toe box on every model.
  • Zero drop and no toe spring.
  • Removable insoles; no traditional built-in arch support.
  • Unisex sizing, full EU sizes 36 to 47.
  • Designed for everyday wear on concrete and pavement.

How do you choose your size in Wyde shoes?

Choose by foot length only. Stand with your full weight on the foot, measure from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe in a straight line, and compare the length with Wyde's size guide. If one foot is longer, choose the size that fits the larger foot.

Wyde shoes come in whole sizes only. If you are between sizes, Wyde recommends sizing up. Wyde says you do not need to size up for width, because the wide toe box is standard on every model.

Wyde lists the insole width for each size, from 10.0 cm in EU 36 to 12.2 cm in EU 47, with 11.2 cm in EU 42. The size guide says the shoes may feel more spacious at first. Wyde says this is intentional.

The sizing details, size exchanges and returns are covered in Wyde Footwear Sizing, Size Exchanges and Returns Explained.

How do you look after Wyde shoes?

Wyde recommends a soft, dry cloth, or a damp one with a mild soap solution for tougher stains. It also recommends storing the shoes away from direct sunlight and rotating them with other pairs to extend their lifespan.

Wyde sells a Cleaning Kit for sneakers for 230 kr or €19 as of October 2026. It consists of a cleaning solution, a double-sided brush and a bottom designed as a water tray. Wyde also sells a Replacement Insole for 130 kr or €12, and the insoles are removable.

Wyde also sells Anatomic Socks, which it describes as designed to embrace the shape of real feet and allow the toes to splay naturally.

What if the shoes do not suit you?

You have 30 days from the day you receive the order to register a return in Wyde's return portal. Trying the shoes on indoors is fine. Visible outdoor wear means Wyde can refuse the return.

Size exchanges are free in Sweden, the EU and the USA. Refund returns have a fee deducted from the refund. In Sweden it is 100 SEK and in the EU it is €10. If you are unsure whether your pair still counts as unused, email support@wydefootwear.com before you send it back.

Wyde also says that if you have worn narrow, stiff shoes for years, it is sensible to ease into any new shoes gradually. If you are unsure, the support team can help at support@wydefootwear.com.
